Background

Mansion are a relative new boy on the betting scene after beginning life in 2004. Until February 2007, they had a trading team providing odds and markets for their sportsbook but that has now changed so that they instead offer a betting exchange where customers can match bets against each other. They are licensed, headquartered and operating in the British dependent territory of Gibraltar.

Odds and Markets

Like betfair, the odds are very much dependent on the liquidity available for each market. That said, however they manage to do it, there are generally competitive odds to be found on NFL, baseball and soccer matches, even a couple of days in advance of the event. Unlike betfair, Mansion don’t charge ‘backers’ a commission fee, while ‘layers’ only pay 1% of the profit they make.

Mansion are very limited with their market coverage. You can only expect a handful of sports available at any one time and, unless you’re talking about US-based sports, it will usually just be a couple of markets for each match such as the 1x2 and the Asian Handicap.

Website

On first glance, the Mansion website looks very slick, although the most dynamic parts of the site are reserved for poker and casino. Clicking through to the ‘Exchange’ section of the site, you’ll find a very basic layout of matches and events about to start and a small list of sports from which to select. Nevertheless, the ‘open account’ procedure is clear and simple, while matching a bet also poses no difficulty.
