Hedgehunter - Weight: 11-12 - Jockey: Ruby Walsh - Trainer: WP Mullins
The winner in 2005 has also performed well in the Cheltenham Gold Cup and other big races. At his best he has a chance but carrying top weight around Aintree makes a return to former glories difficult.

Eurotrek - Weight: 11-8 - Jockey: Liam Heard - Trainer: PF Nicholls
At the age of 11, this horse has only run in 11 races. It may have taken a while but this horse has finally hit a patch of eye-ctaching form that makes him a serious contender for this race.

L'Ami - Weight 11-8 - Jockey: Tony McCoy - Trainer: F Doumen
This mudlover may not be suited by the drying conditions but has talent to burn. He got very close to Kauto Star back in February and if he can repeat that level of form, he could take the big prize on Saturday.

Monkerhostin
- Weight 11-6 - Jockey: Richard Johnson - Trainer: PJ Hobbs
Can always be relied upon to give you a decent run for your money. 4th in this year's Gold Cup, he may not be in the very top class of horses but is a hardworker that can spring a surprise on his day.

Thisthatandtother
- Weight 11-5 - Jockey: Sam Thomas - Trainer: PF Nicholls
Has won some big races in his time and there is no doubting his talent. Has given a lot of good horses a tough time before ultimately being beaten and maybe at his age, his best days are behind him.

Billyvoddan- Weight 11-4 - Jockey: Leighton Aspell - Trainer: HD Daly
He has talent and runs off a nice weight. Hasn't really had his stamina tested over the course of his career and you won't know if he will keep going for the 4 and a half miles.

Numbersixvalverde
- Weight 11-3 - Jockey: Niall Madden - Trainer: M Brassil
The defending champ is well fancied to hang on to his title although he hasn't set the world alight in his preparation for his defence, he should be a real contender on the day.

Idle Talk
- Weight 11-2 - Jockey: Jason Maguire - Trainer: D McCain
From the same yard as Red Rum and 2004 winner Amberleigh House. The McCain family are Grand National icons so it's hard to discount their best hope of success in this year's race.

Royal Auclair - Weight 11-1 - Jockey: Joe Tizzard - Trainer: PF Nicholls
Has bags of stamina and is undoubtedly talented as some of the performances in his earlier career suggest. May not have enough to win but likely to stay the distance and could offer place value.

Cloudy Bays - Weight 11-0 - Jockey: Andrew J McNamara - Trainer: C Byrnes
Looks to have a lot of work to do here. Hasn't done too much in the past to suggest that he is good enough to win here and has developed a rather worrying habit of falling down.

Knowhere - Weight 10-13 - Jockey: Tom Doyle - Trainer: NA Twiston Davies
A couple of results from earlier in the season would suggest that he is quite a talented runner but more recently has been left for dead by a couple of top class performers. Not without hope but needs to improve.

Kelami
- Weight 10-12 - Jockey: Mick Fitzgerald - Trainer: F Doumen
Another French import who has stamina in his favour but may lack the class to win. Has an excellent combination of trainer and jockey in his corner and runs off a nice weight so could spring a surprise.

Point Barrow - Weight 10-12 - Jockey: Phillip Carberry - Trainer: P Hughes
The winner of the Irish Grand National in 2006 looks to has every chance of emulating the achievement of Numbersixvalverde by doing the National double.

Celtic Son - Weight 10-11 - Jockey: Timmy Murphy - Trainer: DE Pipe
Hasn't been at his best for a while now but it's always foolish to write off the runners from this stable. Has shown some form in the past and may not be far away from a place if he can recapture that.

Simon
- Weight 10-11 - Jockey: Andrew Thornton- Trainer: JL Spearing
Has really hit form since the turn of the year by handing out a couple of big beatings to useful opponents. Runs off a nice weight and if he continues at this rate has a real chance on Saturday.

Ballycassidy - Weight 10-9 - Jockey: DF O'Regan - Trainer: P Bowen
This horse has run in virtually all of the big races in jumps racing with little success. It's hard to see that changing this year.

Clan Royal - Weight 10-9 - Jockey: Mr. John Thomas McNamara - Trainer: Jonjo O'Neill
Was a bit unlucky not to win in 2005 and put up a gallant performance to finish 3rd in 2006. Could be third time lucky but age may be catching up with him.

Gallant Approach - Weight 10-9 - Jockey: JA McCarthy - Trainer: CR Egerton
A useful performer but may not be from the very top drawer. Could still be liable to improve and not the most hopeless of runners.

 Livingstonebramble
- Weight 10-9 - Jockey: Davy Russell - Trainer: WP Mullins
Has done well in Ireland over the years against some quality horses but probably not good enough to win a National. His jumping is good though and he should stay on his feet.

Dun Doire - Weight 10-8 - Jockey: Paul Carberry - Trainer: AJ Martin
He's always one to keep an eye on. Won 6 races in a row in the 2005/06 season culminating with a come from nowhere finish at Cheltenham to win the William Hill Trophy. Looks in good shape for this race.

 Kandjar D'Allier - Weight 10-8 - Jockey: Robert Thornton - Trainer:A King
Has a good deal of experience on his side but maybe not a good deal of talent. The trainer and jockey did enjoy and outstanding Cheltenham which makes it difficult to rule him out totally.

Slim Pickings -
Weight 10-8 - Jockey: Barry Geraghty - Trainer: TJ Taaffe
He has put in some useful performances on this side of the Irish Sea but it's hard to see him in the frame for the National. A place may not be out of the question though.

Zabenz - Weight 10-8 - Jockey: Barry Fenton - Trainer: PJ Hobbs
Was well beaten by Billyvodan on his most recent start and a job like this might just be beyond him.

Bewleys Berry - Weight 10-7 - Jockey: Paddy Brennan - Trainer: J Howard Johnson
Disappointing last time out but he has some decent form in the book and if he can recapture that, he may be a force to be reckoned with.

Longshanks - Weight 10-7 - Jockey: Tony Dobbin - Trainer: KC Bailey
He is an honest and hard working runner. He probably won't be all that fancied for this race but his exciting win at Newbury in November put
