The 2011 Grand National was one of the bigggest success stories of the year with the event selling out for the first time since 1984 as thousands flocked to Aintree to enjoy the Liverpool sun and take in an excellent day of racing.
While there are no guarantees that the weather will be similar in 2012, it will still be a fantastic event, with Donald McCain's Ballabriggs bidding to become the first horse since Red Rum to win the Grand National two years running.
The Aintree Festival begins on Thursday April 12 and will start, as usual, with the Liverpool Hurdle, which was won in emphatic style by Big Buck's in 2011, and will run until Saturday April 14.
The Grand National will be run on the final day of the festival and the 40 horses will begin their assault on the world's most famous racecourse at 4.15pm.
Tickets go on sale for the week's racing in August 2011.
