99 left in Grand National at five day stage

The Tony Martin trained Royal County Star and Patsy Hall are among 16 horses withdrawn from Saturday's John Smiths Grand National at Aintree at the five day declaration stage.

A total of 99 horses are still on course for the race, with the final field of 40 to be confirmed on Thursday morning.

Jockey Paul Carberry, who won on Boobyjo in 1999, has been confirmed as the man on board the Arthur Moore trained King Johns Castle on Saturday.

A strong Irish challenge is headed by the 2005 winner Hedgehunter and the Tom Taaffe trained pair of Slim Pickings, who was third last year, and Tumbling Dice.
