Jefferson Keen on Brownie

Malcolm Jefferson, trainer of Brooklyn Brownie, believes his horse can run well at big odds in the John Smith’s Grand National on April 4.

The ten-year-old took to the big Aintree fences well in November when he finished second in the Grand Sefton Chase. Following that effort, connections decided that he deserved to take his chance in the world famous steeplechase.

‘He jumps fences probably the best way for a National horse, because he's not over-extravagant and he is quite a clever horse. Over four and a half miles you never know, but he ticks a few boxes." Said Jefferson, who is searching for his first John Smith’s Grand National success as a trainer.

Brooklyn Brownie is best priced 40/1 with Hills. He is set to carry 10st 6lbs for the big race, in which he will be partnered by jockey Phil Kinsella.
